Mobile Sports Betting: Tiger Woods

His impressive recovery continuing as his rivals struggle, Tiger Woods now says he won’t be satisfied if he regains his status at the top of the world rankings by winning this weekend’s Arnold Palmer Invitational. This would have been typical Tiger talk in his heyday, when he would strive for a level of perfection that saw him win tournaments at a canter, and is a newfound step towards the old ruthlessness that must be taken seriously today.

For the army of sports betting fans who were once used to adding to their bank balance by wagering on Tiger on a weekly basis, we could well be heading for a return to his being a thorn in the side of online bookmakers.

Most great sportsmen whose careers suffer the kind of disastrous downward spiral that happened to Woods after the sordid revelations first arose in 2009 tend to fail to achieve a meaningful comeback, the prospect of regaining past form ostensibly an insurmountable task. But Woods isn’t an average great sportsman, and if his pre-tournament positivity is anything to go by he already senses that record-breaking glory could well be a part of his future as well as his past.

As much as the game wouldn’t be the same without his remarkable skills, the likes of Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer, Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy – each of whom has managed to occupy the Number 1 position since Woods fell unceremoniously off the throne he’d been so comfortable in – probably would prefer to see a more modest comeback.

After the freefall that saw Woods’ name disappear from the world’s top 50 he is now poised to finally complete a remarkable recovery and earn the top spot should he successfully defend his Arnold Palmer title this weekend.

Whether it happens this week, the next tournament or later this year, we wouldn’t want to bet against him any more than we can argue with his confident logic: “I don’t want to become as good as I was, I want to become better. It has been a long process. I was hurt for a long time and at the same time had to make drastic swing changes... I’m still getting better and things are becoming more efficient.”

Palmer himself had this to say: “Tiger probably looks as strong and as good from a golf perspective as I’ve ever seen him. His swing, posture and attitude are far better than they have been in some time.”

The days when we could get fantastic betting value on troubled Tiger look set to disappear, but the upside when finding a bet through gambling4mobiles could be the oddsmakers running scared once again...
